Grassrivers is Leonida's swamp country, and its name is a wink at the Everglades' famous nickname, the River of Grass.
What we know about Grassrivers
Grassrivers is one of the regions Rockstar has named, and it covers the wetlands inland from Vice City. Trailers have shown airboats, swamp roads and plenty of alligators.
Expect a slower, wilder part of the map, where water and wildlife matter more than streets.
The real Everglades
The Everglades are a vast, slow-moving sheet of shallow water flowing south from Lake Okeechobee toward Florida Bay. The writer Marjory Stoneman Douglas called them the River of Grass in her 1947 book, the same year Everglades National Park was created.
It is famous for airboat tours, sawgrass prairies and mangrove forests, and it is one of the only places on earth where alligators and crocodiles live side by side.
