Vice City
Vice City is where GTA began its love affair with Miami. In GTA 6 it returns as the capital of Leonida's excess, and the real city behind it has changed a lot since the 1980s.
What we know about Vice City
Vice City sits on Leonida's southeast coast and is the anchor of GTA 6. Rockstar's trailers lean hard on beaches, packed nightclubs, luxury cars, social-media chaos and a skyline far denser than the 2002 version.
It is the first time Vice City has been rebuilt for a modern setting. Earlier games (Vice City in 2002 and Vice City Stories in 2006) were period pieces set in the 1980s. GTA 6 takes place in the present day.
The real Miami behind it
Real Miami is split between the mainland and Miami Beach, a barrier island reached by a series of causeways across Biscayne Bay. Expect the same basic geography in Vice City: a downtown core on the mainland, and a beach strip facing the Atlantic.
On the beach side, the Art Deco Historic District around Ocean Drive is famous for pastel hotels and neon signs. On the mainland, Brickell and Downtown hold the glass towers, while PortMiami, one of the world's busiest cruise ports, sits on islands in the bay.
Neighborhoods worth watching for
- Miami Beach and South Beach: hotels, beach parties and the Art Deco strip.
- Brickell and Downtown: the financial district and the tallest towers.
- Little Havana: Cuban culture, cafés and Calle Ocho.
- Wynwood: warehouses covered in street art.
- The port and the Miami River: cargo, boats and a grittier side of the city.

Vice City FAQ
Is GTA 6's Vice City the same map as the 2002 game?
No. It is a new, much larger city built for the present day. Some landmarks may return as nods to the older games, but the map has been rebuilt from scratch.
Is Vice City a copy of Miami?
It is a parody, not a copy. Rockstar compresses and rearranges real places so they fit the game, much as Los Santos did with Los Angeles in GTA 5.
