Trailing off the bottom of the state, the Leonida Keys are GTA 6's island getaway, and their real-world twin is one of the most famous road trips in America.
What we know about the Leonida Keys
The Keys are one of the regions Rockstar named officially. Footage shows small islands, shallow bright water, marinas and long bridges, a laid-back contrast to the noise of Vice City.
Expect the Keys to be prime boat territory, with water that invites both fishing trips and smuggling runs.
The real Florida Keys
The Florida Keys are a coral island chain curving south-west from the tip of the Florida peninsula. They are linked by the Overseas Highway, which runs roughly 113 miles from the mainland down to Key West.
The best-known stretch is the Seven Mile Bridge, which crosses open water between the middle Keys. Key West, at the end of the road, is famous for its sunsets, bars and laid-back, eccentric reputation.
What to look out for in game
- A long bridge sequence that recreates the drive down the Overseas Highway.
- Marinas, houseboats and fishing charters.
- A lively end-of-the-road town inspired by Key West.
- Shallow reefs and mangrove islets you can only reach by boat.
